About Library Land project

Library Land Project, Inc. is a section 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Our mission is to explore, document, and promote public libraries in order to educate people about the essential role of these institutions in our communities. Our research agenda, programming activities, and services - which include consulting, speaking, communications, content development, and fundraising - are designed to benefit libraries and the public. Our goal is to reframe how people see and understand libraries in the 21st century. We invite everyone to join our quest to see, share, and celebrate all that is extraordinary in Library Land.

Greg Peverill-Conti, Executive Director

Whether as a park ranger at Alcatraz, a public relations executive, a librarian, or with the Library Land Project, Greg has always found ways to combine his curiosity, creativity, enthusiasm, and communication skills to spin yarns, craft stories, and connect people and institutions. For Greg, serving as executive director of Library Land Project is a dream come true.

Greg received his Master’s in Library and Information Studies at the University of Alabama and his undergraduate degree in American Culture at Emerson College. He is the information services supervisor at the Wellesley Free Library, a substitute reference librarian at the Framingham Public Library, and the chair of the trustees at the Medway Public Library.

Greg is a father, husband, reader, fiddler, and librarian. He loves color and wears it brightly every day.

Rachael Hobson, Associate Director

Rachael Hobson has dubbed herself a library land lurker. She has held a love for libraries since she was very young. Since getting her first library card (and her first job!) at the Nevins Memorial Library, she has been enthralled with stories.

From the page, to the stage, to content creation; she enjoys a good tale! Her humble beginnings have brought her into finding a career in libraries. Rachael has been working in libraries since 2015. She started her career in special libraries but has found her home in public library work.

While working as a cataloging specialist for the Wellesley Free Library, Rachael is also pursuing her Master's in Library Science at Texas Woman's University.

deb spratt, board member

Deb Spratt is a public library director at the Lawrence Library, Pepperell, Mass. She has worked in public libraries for more than 32 years. While in college, Deb experienced working in a large city library with its variety of departments starting as a page in the children’s room, then working in circulation, the art and music department, and finally the Bookmobile as both a driver and library assistant. In 2001, Deb took the plunge and earned her master’s degree in library science from Syracuse University.

In her hometown of Greenville, NH, Deb is treasurer (former chairperson) for the Chamberlain Free Public Library Board of Trustees, founding member of the Greenville Beautification, and serves on the Pepperell Business Board of Directors. She currently serves on the Central and Western Massachusetts Resource Sharing (a library network consortium) finance committee, and was past president and member of the executive board. She is a member American Library Association (ALA), Public Library Association (PLA), and both the New England and Mass Library Associations.

Deb is a passionate advocate about the impact public libraries can have on their communities and understands this requires good community relations and funding. Libraries should be Oldenburg‘s ‘Third Place’ (the new town common) acting as a hub, connecting people to information, culture, and their community. Libraries must remain safe havens that are accepting and welcoming to all, while providing a place that anyone can access knowledge and the arts.

Deb lives in Greenville with her husband, Steve, their two dogs Sinjin (Great Dane) and Ronin (Borzoi), and their three cats. Her hobbies are training her dogs to become therapy canines, gardening, exploring antique shops, listening to music, renovating their 1860s home, and, no surprise, is an avid reader of all genres.
